Chiropractic Adjustments

CHIROPRACTIC SPINAL AND EXTREMITY ADJUSTMENTS

Dr. Tereo utilizes a full spine approach to evaluating and adjusting the spinal column.  As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, Dr. Tereo has advanced training in restoring function to the extremities (shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, knees, ankles, and feet).  In some cases osseous adjustments are not indicated yet altered joint function is present.  In these cases Dr. Tereo utilizes a hand held adjusting tool called an Activator which delivers a gentle pressure to the joint being addressed.

Hand held adjusting instruments are precision tools which can deliver variable pressure controlled by the doctor to help restore function to joints of the spine and extremities.

LOW FORCE INSTRUMENT ADJUSTMENTS

There are two types of adjustment instruments utilized by Dr. Tereo which are featured below.

DROP TABLE ADJUSTING

This is a specific chiropractic method that uses a special table with several segments called drop pieces. These segments can be cocked up a fraction of an inch, so when the thrust is delivered, the table will drop this fraction of an inch. The object of the drop is to distract (open) the joint during the adjustment. The drop pieces assist Dr. Tereo's thrust and work with the force of gravity thus minimizing the force required for the adjustment.

WEBSTER TECHNIQUE*

Chiropractic care in pregnancy is vital to the normal physiological function of both the mother and baby throughout pregnancy and birth. More women and birth providers are discovering the many benefits associated with chiropractic care in pregnancy and recognize this area of expertise through Webster Certification.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.

Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.
